"I believe we go through things in life, so we can grow, learn and then help others on their journey."

Jo Cabey

Hi, I'm Jo.

Founder of Journey with Jo

Creating your own path in life is no small thing. Whether you’re changing careers, altering relationships, or making any other transformation to your personal life, there are always obstacles to overcome. As someone who has faced numerous challenges from a young age, I know what it means to rise above the chaos and come out to the other side stronger than ever. With a focus on mental wellness and self-love, I’m here to help you reach your greatest potential with confidence as your trusted life coach.

My own healing journey has been filled with extreme lows and incredible triumphs. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY as a first-generation American, I saw first-hand what it meant to strive for a better life. Although I have been pursuing the American dream, I am very proud of my Caribbean roots, which stem from the lovely island of Montserrat. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications from Claflin University, as well as an Elementary Education Master’s Degree.

I have experience as a school administrator, adjunct professor, travel blogger, published author, and activist. Today, I combine these endeavors under my company called Journey with Jo, LLC. Every venture I have taken on has given me valuable insights that I am thrilled to be sharing with others as a Certified Life Coach (Dec. 2022).

in 2019, on the heels of a gut-wrenching broken engagement, I decide to take a hold of my life and get help putting the pieces back together. I enlisted the services of mental-wellness professionals that worked with me to navigate childhood trauma, boundary setting and self-love. Because of the time I spent working on myself, I was able to create the life I've always dreamt of.

Being intentional about my healing allowed me to fall in love with myself for the first time, which then in turn brought so many blessings my way: a fulfilling marriage, job promotions, and healthy relationships with family and friends.

My desire to help others stems from all of the wonderful people that poured into me, when I was at my lowest.

As you can read below here, I have worked hard to become a respected Author, Survivor, and Advocate. However, most importantly, I am here to help you create a future you can be proud of. My true calling in life is to elevate others through meaningful guidance. Whether you choose to reach out for more information on my coaching services, would like to book me as a guest speaker, or just want to stay in touch through email or social media; I am ready to serve your needs in an impactful way.

Your future is bright, you just need someone to help lead the way.

Author

In 2019, I decided I wanted to write a book to chronicle my life experiences up until that point. Therapy was the catalyst that helped me tap into writing, which has become one of my go-to methods of soothing and celebrating. In 2020 I published my first book, Jada's Diary. In 2021, I published a journal, Attitude of Gratitude.

Survivor

Just like you, I have overcome so many things in life that were meant to take me down.

I have triumphed over: childhood & adult sexual abuse, financial abuse, a broken engagement, depression, anxiety and constant feelings of being inadequate.

As unfortunate as these situations were, I am grateful to have survived them. Choosing survival was not easy. There were many diffucult days & nights, so I give thanks constantly for overcoming these situations.

Advocate

An advocate is someone who publicly supports a particular cause, and I'm grateful to be an advocate for many things including self-love, therapy, and all things that make the quality of your mental well-being better.

I am also an advocate for survivors of sexual abuse. I'm a member of the Speaker's Bureau with RAINN: the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization.

I am grateful to be able to use my voice as a speaker to talk about the things nearest to my heart.
