People ask me so many times, “Jo, how do you afford to travel so much?” “Jo, you must have money!” or my personal favorite, “Jo, do you have a sugar daddy I don’t know about?” Although I wish the latter was true (seriously I’ve gotten down on my knees a few times and prayed for this)it isn’t and there are a few things I do to make traveling very cost-efficient for me.
This is a site that helps you to save money for anything you want to save for and it does all of the work for you. It works a few different ways:
Let’s say I want to save $1000. I can either set a “timed-goal” of when I want to have that $1000 by or I can say this is how much I’m putting aside each check, and Smarty Pig will let me know when I’ve reached that $1000 goal.
The thing that I love about this site is that it is super user friendly. If you are unsure of how much to take out to save, it can calculate how much you would need to take out each month, week, or bi-weekly, according to your preference.
Another awesome thing is that you don’t have quick access to the money that is saved. Unlike my savings account, which I can easily dip in and out of, you don’t have direct access to that. You don’t get your money until that said goal is achieved. Now of course, if you wish to take the funds out beforehand you can, but I’d advise that you just stick it out!
My final plug for Smarty Pig is that it takes the guess work out of saving. I don’t have to worry about taking money out and transferring it when I get paid, because it does it automatically. I never see that money, so it’s not missed.
You’d be surprised how much you can rack up.
As a person that is not the greatest at saving, this is something that works very well for me, and hopefully it can work for you too! Try it out and let me know what you think!
